FAQs

What is the Nikah in Shariah?

Nikah in Dubai is the religious contract that binds a couple in a Muslim marriage. It reflects the rights and obligations of both parties. Imam Shafi highlights the importance of the Nikah as a necessary step for the marriage to be religiously valid and spiritually fulfilling.

What are the rules for Sharia marriage?

To make a Muslim marriage in Dubai valid, the bride and groom must give their mutual consent. The Nikah requires the presence of the bride’s Wali and two witnesses—either two Muslim men or one man and two women. The ceremony is conducted by an imam.

How to get married under Sharia law?

A pre-marriage medical screening is a required step for a Nikah in Dubai. The bride, groom, and Wali must attend the Nikah ceremony with two male Muslim witnesses. Additionally, the bride must obtain permission from her Wali to marry under Sharia law.

Can you get married in a mosque in Dubai?

UAE regulations do not permit marriage ceremonies to be held in mosques. Marriages are to be conducted in official marriage courts or through a licensed religious authority at a designated venue.

What is the rule for Nikah?

For a nikah to be considered valid, it must involve the consent of both parties, signatures on the marriage contract, the presence of a qualified Imam, a legal wali for the bride, and at least two witnesses to the ceremony.

Who pays for Nikkah?

Although there is no fixed rule in Islam on who pays for nikkah, it is customarily covered by the bride’s side, particularly because the wali, usually the bride’s father or another close male relative, often plays a significant role in the ceremony.
